For the second summer in a row, senior Angela Lin has received a grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) to support her biomedical research.
Lin works in the lab of Xue Sherry Gao, the Ted N. Law Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Rice. She majors in biochemistry and cell biology.
“The purpose of the grant,” Gao said, “is to promote undergraduate summer research for biomedical-related projects. There’s also an emphasis on promoting female young professionals into biomedical research from NIGMS.”
Lin is working on a project, “Advancing CRISPR-Cas Technologies for the Discovery and Characterization of Novel Fungal Natural Products,” funded by the National Institutes of Health.
