Jordan Shivers

Jordan Shivers, a fifth-year doctoral student in chemical and biomolecular engineering (ChBE) at Rice, has been awarded a NASA/Texas Space Grant Consortium Fellowship for the upcoming academic year.

Shivers works in the research group of Fred C. MacKintosh, Abercrombie Professor of ChBE, of chemistry, and of physics and astronomy, and earned his B.S.E. in chemical and biological engineering from Princeton in 2016. Shivers’ research focuses on the nonlinear mechanics of semiflexible polymer networks.

The fellowship includes a $5,000 stipend. Shivers has also been awarded Rice’s Lodieska Stockbridge Vaughan Fellowship (2020-21) and the Riki Kobayashi Fellowship in Chemical Engineering (2018-19).
